Premises licence alerts
Know the day a licence application lands near your business, while there is still time to comment.
Councils publish applications for new and changed premises licences. Most licensing authorities set a comment period, commonly 28 days. We read the applications they publish and email you the ones that could affect you, usually within one working day.
Who it is for
Independent pubs, bars, restaurants, cafés, off-licences and shops that sell alcohol. If a venue near you asks for longer hours, an alcohol licence or late-night refreshment, you hear about it in time to decide whether to comment.
It is a business service: for businesses and sole traders trading from licensed premises, not for individuals acting in a personal capacity.
What an alert carries
- the premises and its address;
- what is being applied for: a new licence, a change of hours, alcohol or late-night refreshment;
- the council and the application reference;
- the last date for comments;
- a link to the council's own page, so you can read the application yourself.
What the alert email looks like
An example, with the premises, dates and reference made up:
A new premises licence application has been published near the address you watch.
Premises: The Example Arms, 1 Example Street, Exampleton
Applied for: A change of hours (alcohol, until 01:00)
Council: Exampleton Borough Council
Reference: SAMPLE/PL/2026/0001
Last date for comments: 12 November 2026
Sample only: every detail here is invented. A real alert carries the council's own link and deadline.
For trade buyers
If you are buying, selling or taking over licensed premises, the same applications can arrive as a CSV brief: one row per application, one file a week, ready for a spreadsheet or a due-diligence pack.
How it works
- You tell us the address or addresses you trade from, and the radius you want watched.
- We check the licensing authority's published applications each working day.
- An application inside your radius is emailed to you the same day, with the comment deadline.
What it does not do
It does not object or make representations for you, and it is not legal advice. It does not promise that every application is caught: it reads what the council publishes, and some councils publish late, only as a PDF, or not at all. If an alert matters, read the council's own page before the deadline.

What is counted
One view of this page and one press of Buy, each counted as an integer for the UTC day it happened. No name, email address, postcode, IP address, cookie or analytics. This page is a plain form and works with JavaScript switched off.
A view is a page load, so a link checker, a search engine or a reload is counted too. Read the views figure as indicative, not as people; presses are counted only when the press comes from this site's own page.
There is no waiting list: the test does not take an email address, so nothing can be sent to you afterwards.
